Production Group Leader - Off Shift

About the Job
JOB PURPOSE:
Responsible for directing, monitoring and performing daily activities in assigned area of responsibility to ensure proper loading and unloading of supplies and smooth workflow.
 
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
  • Uses periods of high concentration and knowledge of bakery processes to train, direct, visually monitor and assist daily activities of employees in assigned area of responsibility.  Involves communicating orally with Shift Supervisor and employees regarding production.
  • Receives work orders from Shift Supervisor, reads to determine production to be completed during shift, and directs employees accordingly to complete scheduled production.
  • Set or operate controls on various machines.  Includes selecting proper size and adjusting proper guides; selecting proper codes, date and labels on label machines; and setting temperature.  Setting controls on machinery involves good manual dexterity to push button, replace parts, adjust guides, etc.
  • Visually inspects and assures that all necessary materials for the daily scheduled production are in appropriate area.  Involves walking, bending, and lifting up to 75 lbs., use of motorized materials, handling equipment and wheeled carts as necessary.
  • Transports stacks of supplies from finishing area to the warehouse areas.  Involves pulling and pushing three-wheel dolly and performing the work in bakery manufacturing environment with high degree of noise, flour dust, odors and temperature extremes.
  • Visually inspects bakery products to insure quality product meets Country Oven Bakery's specifications.  Able to work in a cold environment and help clear freezer jams.
  • Complies with all federal, state and local regulatory requirements and procedures.
  • Be able to operate the Prism system, print proper labels, and make changes in the system as necessary.
  • Must work in a safe manner, and communicate any unsafe acts of other employees, or unsafe conditions to a supervisor on the production floor.
  • Participates in Reliability training and Line Event Data System training and provides accurate information in Line Event Data System, as required.
  • Provides accurate information for departmental reports.
OTHER JOB FUNCTIONS:
  • Attends Behavioral Accident Prevention Process (BAPP) Training; periodically conducts observations within the plant and selects safety goals annually.
  • Participates in Focus Teams and “If Down-Do” strategies.
  • Responsible for contributing ideas and suggestions to improve reliability of the overall operation plus selecting reliability goals annually.
  • Obtain forklift certification.
  • Maintains cleanliness of work area.  Involves sweeping floor and placing trash in trash receptacles.
  • Performs other various job functions as may be assigned.
  • Will follow established programs, policies, and practices to produce safe quality foods that meet regulatory and company requirements.
  • Will support the development, implementation, maintenance, and ongoing improvement of the SQF Programs.
  • Will be accountable to the Kroger Manufacturing Food Safety and Quality Principles.
